Invest in Bogota received top honors as the foremost investment promotion agency in Latin America and the Caribbean at the renowned Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi. This significant event attracts over 12,000 global participants from 175 countries to discuss and forge effective investment promotion strategies and economic development opportunities.

Isabella Muñoz, Executive Director of Invest in Bogota, expressed, "This award confirms Bogotá-Region's role as a pivotal expansion and business growth platform, attributed to our skilled workforce, economic stability, and strategic geographic positioning. El Dorado airport's recognition as the leading cargo airport and the second busiest in passenger traffic in Latin America further highlights our regional prominence."

In 2023, Invest in Bogota successfully navigated the post-pandemic economic slowdown by attracting foreign investment. The agency’s approach focused on developing and deploying innovative methodologies to track investment trends and pinpoint critical sectors such as knowledge-based services, value-added manufacturing, and smart infrastructure.

The year 2023 emerged as the corporation's most successful yet, generating 355 new opportunities and engaging with 332 companies, culminating in 41 investment projects valued at USD 231 million. These projects created over 6,000 direct formal jobs and supported 12 strategic city infrastructure projects.

On the global events front, the Convention Bureau secured 307 opportunities, resulting in 63 major events that generated USD 23 million in capital flows, attracted 38,650 participants, and accounted for 77,288 hotel nights. Moreover, Bogota has reinforced its international presence through specialized fairs and trade missions while bolstering local ecosystem engagement.

Muñoz added, "This accolade enhances our international visibility, bolstering our leadership in key investor nations such as the USA, Spain, Mexico, Chile, and China, and piquing interest in new markets like Asia and the Middle East."

Looking forward, Invest in Bogota is poised to face significant challenges aligned with the district administration's new public policy directives. The focus will be on sustainability, advancing science, technology, innovation, and strategic infrastructure projects. Another priority will be to weave the local productive sector into the global trade and investment fabric and to foster a business-friendly environment.

Investing in new sectors is crucial for the city's economic transformation, with a strategic focus on aligning with the country's energy transition. This includes attracting investments in renewable energies, energy efficiency, and clean technologies, which not only address climate change but also diversify and secure the energy matrix.

Furthermore, enhancing the agricultural sector through cutting-edge technology and fostering a knowledge-based society through investments in research, development, and innovation will be key. This involves attracting tech-oriented companies and projects that promote knowledge transfer and the adoption of advanced technologies in various economic sectors.

Foreign Direct Investment will act as a catalyst for economic revival, creating quality jobs and promoting skilled human capital development. Invest in Bogota remains committed to driving socioeconomic progress, enhancing competitiveness, fostering internationalization, and improving the quality of life, positioning Bogota-Region as the top destination for business in Latin America.
