Mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán and Alberto Arciniega, President of Microsoft Latin America, convened on Tuesday to exchange insights on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to support the visions and strategies of Bogotá's city administration, aiming to positively impact the lives of its residents.
The meeting also saw participation from key city officials including César Restrepo, Secretary of Security; Julián Fernández, Deputy Secretary of Health; and Iván Durán, City Counsellor for ICT. Representatives from the multinational tech company included Silvana Lara, Director for Latin America Public Sector at Microsoft; Daniel Verswyvel, General Manager for Colombia; Guillermo Ocampo, Director of Digital Transformation for Hispanic South America; and Lorena Hernández, Public Sector Account Executive. Together, they discussed how AI could enhance district management and improve citizen services.

During the session, Bogotá’s representatives highlighted the effective use of digital content in the ‘Smart City Bogotá’ strategy and the development of successful projects like the handling of Requests, Complaints, Claims, and Suggestions and ‘Chatico,’ the virtual agent of Bogotá.
Furthermore, the officials shared upcoming actions from the ‘Bogotá Camina Segura' Development Plan that require AI implementation:
- Educational programs for citizens to tackle challenges from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, featuring initiatives like 'Jóvenes a la E' (Youth to the E) and 'Talento Capital' (Capital Talent).
- A Data Strategy that will involve key sectors such as public safety, mobility, environment, public management, and social equity.
- Innovations for administrative procedures, including a unified portal for transactions and a behavioral science unit.
- A cyber incident response team and enhanced digital security measures.
