‘Bogotá, My City, My Home’ continues to establish itself as Colombia’s top tourist destination and one of the leading cities in the region for attracting visitors! According to the latest Tourism Observatory report from Bogotá’s Tourism Institute (IDT), covering data from December 2024 to January 2025, Colombia’s capital started 2025 with record-breaking tourism figures, showing a 9.9% growth in January compared to the same period in 2024.

In 2024, over 13.5 million tourists chose Bogotá, reflecting an 8.7% increase from 2023. This momentum continues into 2025, with 160,994 international visitors in January, a 9.9% rise from the previous year.
Commenting on these results, Andrés Santamaría, Director of Bogotá’s Tourism Institute (IDT), highlighted the sector's importance in the city’s development agenda:
"These figures prove that Bogotá is a growing tourism destination, directly impacting economic growth, connectivity, and job creation. Our goal for 2025 is to exceed 15 million tourists while strengthening the city with more air connectivity, world-class events, and an innovative tourism offering."
Transportation & Connectivity on the Rise
Land Travel: In January 2025, Bogotá’s Transport Terminal recorded 1,331,675 passengers, while the total for 2024 reached 15,580,410 travelers.
Air Travel: Flight availability to Bogotá reached 172,408 flights in 2024, marking a 14.0% increase from the previous year—118,514 domestic and 53,894 international flights. The city welcomed over 22.6 million air passengers, with an 81.1% occupancy rate.
Tourism: A Key Driver of Employment & Investment
The tourism sector remained a major job creator in 2024, averaging 107,533 jobs per month—2.6% of the city’s total employment—with a 10.4% increase compared to 2023. The gastronomy, culture, transportation, and accommodation sectors were the main forces behind this economic recovery.
To boost this growth, district administrations will invest over 67 billion pesos in tourism infrastructure and improvements across Bogotá ’s 20 districts.
"For the first time, Bogotá is making an investment of this magnitude in local tourism. These resources will strengthen our tourism offerings with a focus on sustainability and innovation while positioning us to attract greater foreign investment," Santamaría concluded.
