Candelaria greeted attendees, introduced herself, and highlighted Bogotá as a dynamic destination rich in history, art, culture, and biodiversity. She emphasized the city’s diverse tourism offerings, from the stunning colonial architecture of La Candelaria - her namesake -to sustainable tourism experiences in the Eastern Hills, exquisite cuisine, and world-class museums. Through her presentation, Candelaria reinforced Bogotá's position as a top destination for travelers worldwide.

Andrés Santamaría, director of the Bogotá Tourism Institute, shared insights on Candelaria, a tool that reflects Bogotá’s evolution into a Smart Tourist Destination (DTI). He emphasized its distinction as a pioneering AI-driven solution for the country.
"We’re the first tourism entity in Colombia to implement generative AI trained with proprietary knowledge bases. While other tourism offices rely on traditional chat systems, our AI goes much further - it doesn’t just answer questions; it creates content and personalized experiences in real time, enabling unique interactions that were previously unimaginable,” explained Santamaría.
He also noted, “This project, fully developed by our in-house team, underscores our commitment to innovation and efficiency. It demonstrates how we’re using technology to transform the way we connect with visitors.”
Candelaria’s impact goes beyond text-based interactions. She will be personified through an interactive avatar, offering travelers a closer, more innovative and disruptive experience.
While programmed to provide detailed responses via text, Candelaria also incorporates real-time video interactions, positioning Bogotá as a leader in cutting-edge technology for tourism.
"In addition to offering guidance through text, Candelaria will allow users to interact with her through video. This unique implementation in Latin America is part of our strategy to enhance tourist experiences,” Santamaría added.
