‘Bogota, My City, My Home’ continues to grow as an international tourist destination. The tourism sector is still bringing good news, as confirmed by the new report from the Tourism Observatory, which highlights the most significant figures on tourism growth, an increase in international traveler visits, and more data.

During 2023, ‘Bogota, My City, My Home’ saw a significant boost with over 12 million tourists visiting, marking a 10.1% increase compared to the previous year. The tourism boom in the city continues into 2024, according to the following key figures from the tourism report:

Increase in Foreign Visitors Between
January and July 2024, Bogotá received 1,029,907 foreign visitors, who entered through all the migration points in the country and indicated that the capital would be their place of stay. This represents a 5.0% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
According to data from Migration Colombia
The main countries of origin of foreign visitors are the United States (17.2%), Venezuela (12.3%), Mexico (9.9%), Ecuador (6.4%), Spain (5.0%), Brazil (4.8%), Peru (3.8%), France (3.3%), Chile (3.4%), and Panama (3.2%).
Passengers at Bogota’s Transport Terminal Between
January and July 2024, 9,108,803 passengers traveled through the Bogotá Transport Terminal, which represents an 11.3% increase compared to January-July 2023. Out of these passengers, 59.4% traveled through the Salitre terminal, 28.1% through the North terminal, and 12.5% through the South terminal.
Increase in Flights to Bogotá According to Aerocivil
Between January and June 2024, there were 85,429 flights to Bogotá, reflecting a 17.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In domestic traffic, 59,145 flights were offered, while international flights reached 26,284. The total number of seats offered was 13,835,923, and the total number of passengers reached 10,888,636, with an annual growth of 21.5%.
Accommodation Occupancy Rate in Bogotá 2024
The accommodation occupancy rate in Bogotá showed positive growth, as the city registered an occupancy rate 11.3 percentage points higher than the national level for June 2024, according to DANE figures.
On average, for the first half of 2024, Bogotá saw an occupancy rate of 59.5%, while the country reported a rate of 49.2%. This means that the Colombian capital surpassed the national level by 10.3 percentage points.

Tourism Service Providers
2024 As of May 2024, according to figures from MINCIT, the city has 11,773 Tourism Service Providers registered with the National Tourism Registry, of which 681 are hotels. Most providers are located in the Chapinero and Usaquén districts.
“Tourism is a tool for social transformation, driving the economy and promoting the creation of more opportunities and jobs. These positive numbers show us that we’re on the right track in terms of tourism in Bogotá, and they motivate us to continue improving the experience for tourists who visit the city,” said Andrés Santamaría, Director of the District Institute of Tourism (IDT).
