Bogotá was appointed as the new Vice President of the Governing Council for the period of 2020-2022, and President for the period 2022-2024. CIDEU's mission is to accompany Ibero-American local governments in the application of a culture of urban strategic thinking in the design and management of projects aligned to strategy, to achieve sustainable and inclusive cities.
Regarding this appointment, the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, stated that, “Bogotá is a founding member of CIDEU since 1993. We have participated in several of its activities; strategic planning is at the heart of our city "
Luz Amparo Medina, district director for international relations for Bogotá highlighted the importance of this appointment, “CIDEU is a valuable ally due to its contribution in urban transformation and in promoting the culture of urban strategic thinking; basic issues in the construction of sustainable cities ”.
