In 2024, Bogotá was the most visited destination by foreigners in Colombia during the first quarter, according to the Ministry of Commerce. From January to November, the city welcomed 1,687,033 international visitors, representing 38.8% of all foreign tourists in the country—an 8% growth compared to the same period in 2019.

The director of the Bogotá Tourism Institute (IDT), Andrés Santamaría, stated: “The city is constantly evolving, aligned with these trends, establishing itself as a competitive international destination. The blend of our rich history, vibrant culture, and commitment to innovation allows us to offer a unique and memorable tourist experience. We are confident that the future of tourism in Bogotá is very promising.”

Night Experiences: Entertainment and Space Tourism

One of the main trends for 2025 is nighttime tourism, which blends entertainment with opportunities to explore the universe. ‘Bogotá, My City, My Home’ meets this demand with over 700 bars and nightclubs in popular areas like Zona T, Galerías, and Modelia. These venues offer diverse musical styles, live shows, and a safe, vibrant nightlife experience.

The Bogotá Planetarium is a key attraction for astronomical tourism. With its 650-square-meter Space Museum and five interactive rooms, it offers national and international visitors a chance to explore the universe in an engaging way. Guided tours by experts provide a deeper connection with the cosmos.

Technological Innovation: The Role of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is transforming how tourists plan and enjoy their trips. Bogotá leads this innovation with tools like Candelaria, the first generative AI chatbot in Colombia. Designed to be the ideal companion for travelers, Candelaria offers personalized recommendations, helps plan itineraries, and ensures a smoother travel experience.

According to Booking.com, 41% of travelers are open to using AI for trip planning, seeking more conscious and responsible itineraries. This technological leap cements Bogotá’s position as one of the top three cities for business tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Towards Inclusive Tourism

Inclusivity is another key pillar of tourism in 2025. Booking.com reports that 49% of neurodivergent travelers have faced challenges while traveling, emphasizing the need for more inclusive solutions. Bogotá addresses this by implementing tools that enhance the visitor experience, such as real-time information, quiet space recommendations, and universal accessibility. The city is also advancing its recertification as a Smart Tourist Destination, evaluated on innovation, technology, and accessibility to ensure a comfortable and inclusive experience for all.

Sustainable Fashion

Sustainability is also reflected in travelers’ shopping choices, with many opting for second-hand clothing to reduce their environmental impact. Bogotá’s neighborhoods, such as San Victorino, Chapinero, and El Restrepo, are known for offering high-quality, affordable, and sustainable fashion. This trend, driven by Gen Z, turns vintage fashion into a unique and meaningful souvenir of the city.

Bogotá: Innovating Towards a Sustainable Tourism Future

Bogotá continues to establish itself as one of the world’s most attractive destinations. TripAdvisor has ranked it as the sixth-best place to visit, while Booking.com highlights it in the Top 10 most inclusive cities for LGBTQ+ travelers. These achievements underscore Bogotá’s evolution as a vibrant and diverse city that combines culture, technology, and sustainability.
