In parallel with the Finance in Common Summit 2023, Bogotá's Mayor, Claudia López, confirmed that the French Development Agency has granted the Colombian capital a credit of 150 million euros, recognizing its commitment and efforts to counteract the climate change crisis.

"The French Development Agency will provide us with a 150-million-euro credit because Bogotá has demonstrated, not just in words but in actions, that it is truly investing in addressing climate change, decarbonizing transportation, promoting gender equity, and fostering social inclusion for a new urban development," expressed the Mayor.

The confirmation of the credit came after the Mayor met with Rémy Rioux, Director of the French Development Agency, and senior representatives of this significant international group.

In this tweet, Mayor López provides further details about the collaboration with the French Agency for Development Cooperation:

"I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Director of the French Development Agency for their vote of confidence in Bogotá. This credit, more than just financial resources, represents a certificate from the French government that Bogotá is a global exemple of investment in addressing climate change, sustainable development, and gender equity," celebrated Mayor López.

During the official meeting, the Mayor extended her appreciation to the AFD team for their technical and financial cooperation in projects of vital importance to Bogotá. These include support for the development of studies and designs for the Carrera Séptima Green Corridor, urban cable cars, the reclassification of licenses for women bus drivers in the Integrated Public Transportation System, and studies for the integration of bike paths with the Regiotram de Occidente.

"The agency has been working with us for three years, and we are profoundly grateful because they have supported us in developing perhaps the two most crucial strategies of our administration," Mayor López reiterated.

The Mayor added, "With the AFD, we had the world's best urban planners, architects, and designers who helped us develop the concept of what a Green Corridor is and why it's essential to reclaim public space for pedestrians and cyclists. They also emphasized the importance of water and ecological design as integral parts of our projects."

The Mayor further commented that these funds are unrestricted and will be invested in projects such as the construction of community facilities for the new Ciudad Bolívar – Potosí cable car: "They are not giving us resources for a specific project, but rather as recognition for our investment in climate change mitigation, the Green Corridor, the cable cars, and the Care Blocks using our own resources. It's not just about the amount but a certification of what we've already achieved," she stated.

The 'Finance in Common' Summit brings together Public Development Banks, Development Financial Institutions, representatives of national and territorial governments, policy makers, the private sector, experts, and academics to strengthen cooperation and reinforce commitments to support common actions against climate change, promote sustainable development, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
