The Bogotá Mayor’s office opens its doors to an United States delegation on behalf of the White House. The purpose of this visit is to meet with a multi-faceted team from the District and explore possible avenues of co-operation, especially for projects that have a sustainable approach.
Bogota will take advantage of this meeting to present the U.S. delegation with a few bets our own. The added benefit being that these initiatives fall in line with the District Development Plan. This plan, outlined by the Mayor’s Office, seeks to comply with global development agendas, especially on issues of sustainability and gender equality. The scope of these projects was elaborated on by the secretaries of Environment, Women, and Mobility.
By listening to the challenges and objectives of the different sectors. USAID Mission Director, Larry Sacks had this to say, “We are proud of this joint effort with Bogotá, and the Climate Action approach that they have, which is high on the list of priorities for our government and the Biden administration. We are especially interested in the protection of the moors. We will work shoulder to shoulder for the protection of the environment.”

To open things off, the Secretary of the Environment, Carolina Urrutia gave an overview of the Climate Action Plan (PAC). She explains the main fronts on which Bogotá is working: the transition to an electric fleet; the improvement in consumption habits and optimisation of waste management and disposal.
Secretary of Mobility, Nicolás Estupiñán then presented the current transport conditions in Bogotá and requested support in four projects: he Green Corridor of Carrera Septima., shared public bicycle system/path, on-street parking and Metro line number two.
Next to speak was the Secretary for Women, Diana Rodríguez, who presented the District Care System (SIDICU). It catalogues the balance of care that it has carried out in its 11 months of operation and the innovations in the services within reach of a wider coverage.
After listening to each speaker present his or her project, the Deputy Minister of National Security in International Economy, Daleep Singh, praised the good work being carried out in the capital and added, “You are precisely the kind of partner we are looking for because we share the values of fairness and transparency. It is magnificent how everything has advanced and how clear the possible lines of co-operation are.”
By the end of this reunion, the Director of the Mayor’s office for International Relations; Luz Amparo Medina brought things to a close. "We wanted to share the global vision of the administration from different sectors and projects that summarise it. We would be happy if private companies contemplate the possibility of joining this project."
