With historic news for Bogotá, the Mayor, Claudia Lopez, kicked off her international work agenda in China. This involves finalizing negotiations with the pharmaceutical company Sinovac to establish BogotáBIO, Colombia's first vaccine and pharmaceutical factory.
"We have closed the terms of the negotiation with Sinovac to create BogotáBio, our vaccine and pharmaceutical factory, to regain the health sovereignty of the city and the country and be better prepared for the challenges of public health and future pandemics. Another legacy we leave to Bogotá. The official signing will take place in Bogotá during the week of December 18," announced Claudia López after meeting with the CEO of the vaccine-producing company Sinovac, Weidong Yin.
BogotáBIO aims to benefit the entire population of the capital and the country, especially those entitled to access the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI). Additionally, the city aims to be better prepared and less vulnerable in the event of new public health emergencies, epidemics, or pandemics while ensuring the right to health and life.

Furthermore, with this project, which has a projected district budget of 357 billion constant pesos between 2021 and 2026, greater pharmaceutical autonomy is sought, reducing dependence on the will of foreign companies to access life-saving healthcare technologies.

The Mayor of Bogotá also led a meeting with representatives from the clean energy group China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG). The meeting was attended by the President of the Energy Group of Bogotá (GEB), Juan Ricardo Ortega, the President for Latam and Deputy Manager of CTG, Yang Baihua, and other officials from this company. During the meeting, CTG's service portfolio was discussed in detail, and possible alliances between CTG and GEB were explored.
Subsequently, she chaired the "Investment Opportunities in Bogotá" working group. This space, coordinated by Procolombia with the support of the Embassy of Colombia in China, featured the participation of delegates from more than 30 leading companies in renewable energy and sustainable mobility interested in learning about Bogotá's projects and initiatives in these areas.
During her presentation, the Mayor of Bogotá highlighted Bogotá's advantages as a regional business hub and its dynamic business environment. "We are interested in building long-term partnerships. The Mayor's Office of Bogotá is a reliable partner for Chinese companies, as those already developing projects with us can attest," she emphasized.
She also presented key projects from the Sustainable and Safe Mobility Plan for 2035, including a metro network with five lines, supported by two Regiotrams, 22 high and medium-capacity green corridors, seven cable cars, and 499 km of new bicycle transportation infrastructure. These projects, with an investment of over 13 billion dollars, aim to reduce travel times from 70 to 35 minutes by 2035.
