This Saturday, from the Bogotá Planetarium, citizen contributions on the design of the Carrera Séptima (Seventh street) Green Corridor were socialized, by the Urban Development Institute (IDU), the District Secretariat for Mobility and the District Institute for Community Participation and Action (IDPAC).
As of October 31, 42,907 people expressed their voice through the Bogotá Abierta channel, WhatsApp, the Septimaverde.gov.co portal, and 6,170 did so through the StreetMix application.
In addition to the consultation tools, the participatory process for this first phase had other instruments such as workshops, thematic forums, sectorial and population activities.

“This stage summarizes what we want to change, in general, in infrastructure projects: to go from socializing projects to co-creating projects. Surely between all of us thinking, we can think of better things. That not only creates a greater sense of community and collective construction, but also, surely, thinking together, we will come up with better things about how to solve it,”said Mayor Claudia López.
In addition to the consultation tools, the participatory process for this first phase had other instruments such as informative, formative and deliberative.
Through dissemination tools such as social networks, radio, television and the website, more than 200 communicative pieces were launched that had an estimated impact of more than half a million people.
“The Seventh Street is a space for life, to meet, move and enjoy Bogotá. For years, the public has expressed how they imagine it and today, thanks to a participatory process, we have all the citizen contributions to advance in the design of the Carrera Séptima Green Corridor.”, Explained the mayor.
At the Burrough level, the district led more than 18 activities that brought together more than two thousand people for just over 30 hours of co-creation. In addition, three thematic forums were held virtually, which brought together 395 people in the room and a reach of just over 115 thousand people.
Participation has been broad, diverse and inclusive. The systematization of the contributions, to date, shows that citizens have a deep interest in trees, sustainable mobility in which the bicycle, the possibility of walking, skates and skateboards prevail.
Similarly, among the issues that concern citizens, they spoke of security, distribution of space and comfort to circulate and enjoy the Green Corridor. According to the analysis presented, the project must go in the direction of being a tourist attraction, in which economic activity, art and memory become the main objective of the design.
The next step will be developed between November 1st and 17th when the administration will systematize the citizen proposals, will close phase two of studies of the Bogotá Metro, and define the resources available for the project. On November 18 the conceptual design of the Carrera Séptima Green Corridor will be shared.
